FAQs
At Swift Content Services, we understand that clients and insurance partners often have important questions before the contents process begins. Below are answers to some of the most common questions we receive.
What do you consider to be contents?
Contents include personal belongings such as furniture, bedding, clothing, electronics, décor, household goods, and other items inside the property. In general, contents refer to anything within the home or business that can be safely packed and relocated either onsite or offsite during restoration.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Swift Content Services is fully licensed and insured, carrying comprehensive liability coverage to protect both client property and contents. Proof of coverage is available upon request.
Where will my possessions be stored?
All contents are transported to secure, local, climate-controlled storage facilities equipped with monitored security systems. Every item is carefully inventoried and tracked prior to removal and stored in dedicated vaults separate from other customers’ belongings to ensure protection and accountability throughout the claims process.
What happens if some of my belongings are too damaged to restore?
During the packout and inventory process, any non-salvageable items are documented and included in a non-restorable report for your insurance provider. While we always strive to restore as much as possible, some items may be beyond recovery depending on the extent of damage.
I’ve never filed an insurance claim before. Can you help guide me?
Absolutely. While these situations are new and often overwhelming for homeowners and business owners, Swift Content Services works with insurance claims every day. Our team provides detailed documentation and coordinates directly with adjusters and restoration professionals to help ensure the contents portion of your claim is handled accurately and smoothly. We also prepare estimates and billing using industry-standard software such as Xactimate to support the claims process.
Common Myths about Contents Restoration
After a property loss caused by fire, water, mold, or storm damage, restoring belongings can feel overwhelming. During these stressful moments, misinformation often leads homeowners and business owners to misunderstand what contents restoration really involves. At Swift Content Services, we’re here to clarify the facts and break down some of the most common myths surrounding contents packout and restoration.
Myth 1
Any moving company can handle contents restoration.
While traditional movers specialize in transportation, contents restoration requires far more than packing and hauling. Handling items affected by fire, smoke, water, or contamination demands trained crews, specialized procedures, and insurance-ready documentation. Swift Content Services is structured specifically for claim-related packouts, ensuring belongings are protected, inventoried, and handled properly from the start.
Myth 2
DIY cleaning works just as well.
Attempting to clean damaged belongings without professional methods can worsen the damage or permanently ruin items. Smoke residue, moisture exposure, and contaminants require specialized treatment and materials knowledge. Professional contents cleaning helps ensure items are safely restored and properly evaluated for insurance purposes.
Myth 3
Only valuables need restoration.
Everyday belongings like clothing, furniture, and household goods can absorb smoke, moisture, and hidden contaminants that worsen over time. Restoration isn’t just about saving sentimental or high-value items — it’s about protecting everything that can be salvaged and preventing further deterioration.
Myth 4
All contents are treated the same way.
Each claim is different, and contents require customized handling depending on the type of damage and materials involved. Swift Content Services follows a structured, item-specific approach, from careful inventory and packing to coordination with specialized cleaning partners and secure storage.
Myth 5
Restoration costs more than replacement.
In many cases, restoring contents is significantly more cost-effective than replacing them — and it’s often covered by insurance. Swift Content Services works directly within the claims process, providing detailed documentation and using industry-standard estimating tools to support coverage and reduce stress for homeowners.
